first silhouettes

Over the course of the module we were asked to develop a sketchbook over silhouettes these silhouettes had to portray some form over emotion through max for example happines anger jealousy or sadness etc.

here are the first few I have done with max

jumping task

During a lesson we were tasked with taking the next step into basic animation and creating a jump animation. for this i felt as if i didn't really need that much reference because I could quite clearly picture the specifics of the bodily motion and how it moved.

Here is my first attempt at the animation revisions will be added later.

walk cycle task

During one of our lectures we were set a task to create a walk cycle using the max for maya rig.

At first i found the task quite daunting because I was only sticking to using the timeline at the bottom of the screen when sam malone our lecturer said to me that I need to use a combination of the graph editor and the timeline in order to get a more cogent animation together.

Taking this into consideration I managed to get a decent walk cycle but personally I think I could have done better more revisions of the walk cycle will follow soon.

<insert video here>

The following image was given to us as a guide which I will elaborate further on

this image is a sketch from a popular animator named Richard Williams, it explains about the certain phases of a basic walk cycle shortened they are the contact and the pass with occasional down/up phases inbetween in order to show weight and gravity in the animation

week 2

During this lecture we were given an optional task to animate a ball going round an obstacle course I however chose not to do this task because i just barely managed to get the ball animation how I liked it.

Instead I have done some extra curricular work and looked up a few tutorials on animation and came across one they could teach the user how to animate a butterfly along a motion path to which I followed and was rather impressed with my result.

CGMA animation 1st year blog

welcome to my blog for my animation module on computer games modelling and animation.

here I will be updating on a weekly basis what my lectures consist of and some of my practical things like my own animation along with some possible extra curricular work

week 1
Our first week was a simple introduction to the module and what we would be covering which were the basic principals of animation such as squash and stretch and how to include the sense of gravity on an object which was then applied to our first task which was to make a simple animation of a bouncing ball using a combination of the timeline and the graph editor in maya 2012.
